Another gem of a useless research

I just read this amazing research which says

Preventing obesity and smoking can save lives, but it doesn't save money

Here is the story on Wired. Le me quote the article

"It was a small surprise," said Pieter van Baal, an economist at the Netherlands' National Institute for Public Health and the Environment, who led the study. "But it also makes sense. If you live longer, then you cost the health system more."

Some more interesting lines

"Lung cancer is a cheap disease to treat because people don't survive very long," van Baal said. "But if they are old enough to get Alzheimer's one day, they may survive longer and cost more."

The ultimate suggestion

"We are not recommending that governments stop trying to prevent obesity," van Baal said. "But they should do it for the right reasons."

Stupid fellow. He was surprised. What the hell. Well if you are a smoker or an obese you definitely do the world a great service. You live a rather short life, hence consume a lot less of costly resources. Low on pension and medical bills. Going by the logic I would say everyone should be killed as soon as he reaches the age of 50. He sure would become a liability. Its just stupid to live after that. You just consume resources at the cost of others. If you do not drink or smoke, you must pay extra taxes and premium for the crime of living a life of disability and wasting the natural resources.

What the hell. Kill those researchers. These no-brainers are the biggest liability to the society. Well as some brainy fellow said "Everyone has the right to be stupid, but these guys are abusing it". What do you think friends.

Top reasons why Tata Elxsi should be blacklisted

Well that a provoking first line, but then thats exactly what I have to say about this company. Tata Elxsi should be blacklisted, but wait a minute by whom? Well the software developers fraternity. Its a blood sucking corporation which is right documented in the documentary The Corporation . Ok why am I telling this after almost one year of leaving it. [March 24] Interesting Things I Learnt This Week

 1. Ultrasound becoming Utra small - How MEMS technology has miniaturized ultrasound imaging. It discusses the limitations of traditional ultrasound machines. These machines are bulky and require multiple probes. MEMS technology allows for the creation of a single probe that can image the entire body. This probe is small enough to fit in a lab coat pocket.  The article also details the technical aspects of MEMS transducers. My Take : Any and all technology is bound to get cheap and miniaturized over time with progress in science and technology. Utrasound is something which can be thought of a speaker and a mic in very layman terms. These are bound to get smaller over time and be more effective. But like any other tool, this can be misused and the reason for skewed male/female ratio in India can also be attributed to ultrasound.
