Top reasons why Tata Elxsi should be blacklisted

Well that a provoking first line, but then thats exactly what I have to say about this company. Tata Elxsi should be blacklisted, but wait a minute by whom? Well the software developers fraternity. Its a blood sucking corporation which is right documented in the documentary The Corporation. Ok why am I telling this after almost one year of leaving it. Well when the fact is that I have nothing to do with it. I have already let out my personal experience here, here and here. Well it was not just me as its obvious from the comments but then it was general feeling of my friends there. Well all I can talk about is friends because I dont know how each and every employee of Tata Elxsi felt. Anyways heres one more story about the kind of harassment and employee of Tata Elxsi might have to suffer. Though I had read it earlier but am blogging now about solely because I wanted to confirm the news being true. And sadly it is true. An employee was indeed made to resign. And indeed its legally correct. but the only thing is that the Tata Values and legendry stories of employee oriented Tata's seem to be like Unicorns. You would here great legends about them and obviously never see them. All that employee oriented Tata culture surely now seems like a gas bag to me. Here are some of the prior, confirmed and known to me reasons.

1. They had something called BPI, Biscuit Packet Incentive for some and Business Performance Incentive for others. What most people got was under 20% of it. Wow great way to show higher CTC.
2. HRs make mistake and employees pay extra income tax. When you talk to them, all you get is, well it happens sometimes. More importantly, this came from one of the top level HR.Sometimes I wish developers could say that the job cannot be done, it happens sometimes.
3. No respect to freshers. This company will actually throw a fresher in manner it deems right. It doesnt matter if you are an EC graduate or CS. I have seen CS Grads doing verilog and VHDL coding , while EC guys are busy writing HTML and JavaScripts. It just does not matter.
4. In more ways than one its one of the classic examples of Dilbert Corporations, where you have the Catbert HR, Pointy-Haired Boss and several similar characters.
5. All of a sudden last winter it asked some of its employees to leave. No wonder all those who did not perform well at making their managers happy or cribbed about being thrown around were the ones walking with pink slips. Never mind because these were the ones who are now have a better life, work and pay too. Infact it so happens that one of my friend is earning more than the snobby lead he was working with. Somehow I never heard that any of the non-performer was fired. They are still there

If you still need more reasons, the boy you must join this company to find others like you there. Have fun, Tata.

It seems you have articulated Tata Elxsi from employee context very well.

I very well agree with all the points u have mentioned.. But the thing is even if u leave also, u cant guarantee that everything will be gud in the other company.. I saw so many people leave TEL because of frustration(I am one among them!) and after sometime feeling TEL is gud/very gud in some prospects!!
It may be general phenomenon that we will feel bad, if we switch from one to another....

Company means collection of all employee including security, engineer, PM, HR or CEO. If you have forgotten this mantra, then its no more a company rather one mutton-shop whose owner are Admin, HR and PM.

I dont know if you are in a worse situation right now. Then I believe that you should move only to a better place, not just for the sake of it. Work consumes 1/3 of your life and I am sure that I dont want to suffer in that 1/3. Actually nobody is perfect but then there is a limit to everything.

Well its not me but the ppl higher up in Tata Elxsi who have forgotten that mantra.

Yes you are true.. but the situation is going worse day by day.
Now If you ask, performers (who got Very good and good rating) also have been forced to resign this time.. perhaps the reason is attitude... But what is the reason.. perhaps the billability...
What fault an engineer is having if he is not billable? and if attittude. then what HRs are doing in interview time?

Thanks for understanding my point of view. You asked why Tatas, well because they own this company. They make the big decisions. Probably its time they took Tata out of Tata Elxsi. Then probably I would not blame Tata. Tata Sons are the ones managing this company, so if it does something good or bad it surely represents them. I would actually like to ask you, what do you mean by "Tata" actually.

As fas as I know...Its named Tata Elxsi...not only Elxsi...Moreover, some people from Tata Sons are also in the governing body..If you are not aware of this..its very sad..

I couldnt understand, what you are trying to tell??...Tata Elxsi is no more associated to TATA.Or TATA have no role in establishing and running this company. Bachchan rightly said..It seems you are not aware of many things...and its really sad...

The Tata Group comprises 98 companies in seven business sectors, 27 of which are publicly listed.

Mentioning an incident at Trivandrum and blaming Tata Group is what I would like to differ...

TaTa Elxsi - a company where support departments are ruling (Quality, HR, Admin). Real revenue generation teams are suffering. Sometimes we feel that we are supporting HRs and Admins... Bloody Hell..... If you need something from HR and Admin... Huh.. its same like running behind a govt official..... Man, I have not seen a private company where employees have to suffer because of support departments.
SQA's huh.... they dont know what is quality.
HR's ... 7:30 ~ 4:30.... happy hours.
Admin - one of the worst ... Transport/food/bookkeeping/mailroom/building.

Cost cuting is main here.. not the employee satisfaction....

But.. I dont blame here PMs, Sales, Marketting and Developers.... because I have seen them working like dogs. What happens if you dont get support from the support team ????? Here is an Example... TATA Elxsi.

Ratan Tata not liable for TCS actions'

Tata got relief as the court held that he can’t be held vicariously liable for actions that Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) should have taken, or did not allegedly take.

Tata had moved the high court in response to a legal battle waged by a man after his son had died.

Well in that case u sincerely believe that Mr Ratan Tata has nothing to do with Nano or all that good things we heard about TISCO all those years back....Then I am proved right...all that Tata Values gyaan given in all 'Tata' Companies are bullshit...guess you would agree with me there :-)

If u broke neighbour's window its wrong to accuse ur parents, but if u did something great in life, ur parents may also be credited...
So for something that happened inside TCS office you shouldn't blame TATAs

Hi Every one , last week I have attended Tata-elexi interview. it is an opening in Trivandrum Location,they have conducted interview in bangalore,the interview process is such a stupid process I have never experienced. initially they have conducted written exam , where they have given algorith to be written, then technical interview and then 2 hrs have taken the interview for negotiation and asked for all the payslips and asked to complete their form etc, later they called and said that you are going to have one more round that is Managerial round,the interview was scheduled at say X-time and I have waited till X+1hr time and when I called and asked HR what happened , then he made a schedule,Manager round was really boring. after completing all theformalities now they are not calling , when I call them they say till now you did not got any call from our recruit department.How lazy and irresponsible these employees of Tata-Elexi, I feel they are like employees in Muncipality,lazy , drousy etccc......not at all active .

Tata Elxsi is a hell.Please dont give any bond while joining and see the appointment letter code of conduct.In the appointment letter they mentioned you will be used for administrative,supervisiory ,technical or other functions.Means if they are hiring you as software engineer they can utilise as office boy .They are making life hell.I beg u dont join tata elxsi.

one think i dont like about them is the new trend they developed, recruiting un-necessarily. my dept had good number of people to finish the work still they recrruited in heap and all were filling the bench and later thay started firing seniors who knew the work well. now company has a hand full of freshers to get the tasks executed. the gud part of my Dep was the working environment was awsome..I never wore formals i came in jeans, round necks, sports shoes,we had daily parties celebrations.. after office enjoyment.. i still miss my friends my old team.. DSP, TVM is the best :) My HR at TVM was really gud, we still are friends.. i frequently go down to ELXSI to see my x managers, HR and Friends :)
